Privacy Policy
ProfConq · profconq.com · Last updated: June 2, 2026
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how ProfConq (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles personal information
when you use our Portuguese language learning services, including the website at
https://profconq.com and the ProfConq Android application (when available).
ProfConq helps you learn through vocabulary tools, reader-based study, flashcards with spaced repetition,
study programs, and optional practice with video subtitles (including links to YouTube videos you choose to open).
For privacy questions or requests, contact us at
[email protected].
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use ProfConq, we may collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — email address; password is stored only in hashed form on our servers when you register with email and password. If you sign in with Google through Firebase Authentication in the app, we receive information from that sign-in flow (such as email) as provided by the authentication provider.
- Learning and user content — vocabulary entries (words, translations, examples, tags), flashcard scheduling data (intervals, review dates), study programs and progress, activity logs you generate in the app, and settings you choose to sync to your account.
- Audio you create — if you use in-app recording for vocabulary or study features, recordings are stored on your device and attached to your local learning data. We do not upload audio recordings to our servers unless a future feature explicitly does so and this policy is updated.
- YouTube-linked learning — when you open a YouTube video link for subtitle-based practice, the app or website processes the link to obtain subtitles for learning. We do not receive your YouTube account password. YouTube is operated by Google; their policies apply to content and services on YouTube.
- Promo and account limits — if you redeem a promo code, we store redemption records and updated vocabulary limits associated with your account.
- Technical and security data — when you use our website or API, our servers may log standard request metadata (such as IP address, browser or app user agent, timestamps, and error information) for security, abuse prevention, and reliability.
We do not require payment card data for the current ProfConq service. We do not sell your personal information.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage your account and keep your session secure.
- Sync your dictionary, programs, progress, and settings between the website and app when you are signed in and use sync features.
- Provide flashcards, spaced repetition, reader tools, and study programs.
- Apply promo codes and enforce vocabulary limits tied to your plan.
- Send service emails (such as email verification and password reset) when you use email registration.
- Operate, maintain, and protect our services (including troubleshooting and preventing misuse).
We do not use your data for third-party advertising in the app or on the website.
4. Third-party services
We use service providers that process data on our behalf or provide integrated features:
- Hosting and infrastructure — servers that host profconq.com and the ProfConq API store account and synced learning data.
- Email delivery — transactional email (verification, password reset) is sent through our configured mail service.
- Google Firebase Authentication (optional) — if you sign in with Google in the Android app, Firebase processes authentication according to Google’s Privacy Policy.
- YouTube / Google — when you load a YouTube video for learning, Google’s terms and privacy policy apply to YouTube. We process video links and subtitles for learning features; we do not control YouTube’s data practices.
- Text-to-speech (device) — pronunciation features may use your device’s built-in speech synthesis; audio is processed on your device.
We share personal information with these providers only as needed to deliver the service. We do not share your learning data with advertisers.
5. Data retention
- Account and synced data — retained while your account is active and as needed to provide the service.
- Server logs — retained for a limited period for security and operations, then deleted or aggregated.
- Local device data — vocabulary, recordings, and cached content on your device remain until you clear app storage, delete content in the app, or uninstall the application.
After an approved deletion request (see section 6), we delete or anonymize account data on our servers within a reasonable period, except where we must retain information for legal compliance, dispute resolution, or security.
6. Account and data deletion requests
- On your device — clear app storage or uninstall the ProfConq app to remove local data on that device.
- On the website — sign out and stop using sync if you no longer want cloud copies updated.
- Server-side account deletion — follow the steps on our account deletion page or email [email protected] from the address associated with your account.
7. Children’s privacy
ProfConq is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact [email protected] if you believe a child has provided us with personal information.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including HTTPS, hashed passwords for email accounts, and access controls on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. International transfers
Our services may be operated from servers located outside your country of residence. Your information may be processed in countries with different data protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of ProfConq after the effective date of an update means you accept the revised policy.
